Zellers Whitby is one of the retail stores of Zellers Inc., a three-store discount retail chain in Canada. It was a major discount department retailer dealing in clothing, grocery, footwear, sports equipment, appliances, electronics, furniture, etc. It has headquarters in Brampton, Ontario. It had 350 outlets across the country, but eventually, after its acquisition by Target Canada in the year 2011, all stores were closed by 2012. Target renovated 100 to 150 of them to reopen the stores under the Target banner during 2013 and 2014. In January 2013, Three of stores are still retained to carry liquidation merchandise from Hbc retail chains namely, Hudson’s Bay and home outfitters. These included the outlets at Ontario, Ottawa, British Columbia.
Background
Zellers was founded by Walter P. Zeller, in the year 1931. It all started with the purchase of the fourteen Canadian locations of American retailer Schulte-United, all in Southern Ontario. From the beginning the company had a

Company Store locations had a restaurant namely- “Zellers Family Restaurant”. Most Zellers location also had a pharmacy located outside, but it eventually ceased operations by 2012. The stores last Christmas and holiday season sale ran an advertising campaign called “Festive Finale”, of which Zeddy was used as a mascot. Presently, as a Hudson's Bay Company subsidiary, Zellers promoted the Hudson's Bay Rewards program. It uses a point’s card, available at no charge, but only accepted by Zellers and other partners.
