The University of Connecticut is also known as UConn, a public flagship research university that was formed in the year 1881 with the name Storrs Agricultural School. Its name was given in the honour of Charles and Augustus Storrs who were the donors of the school land. It is affiliated to the to the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities and the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities.
