On Oct. 17, 2015 we received a letter from Veronica Williams, Claim Rep. With a check for $383 + a $300 Travel Certificate for lost luggage valued at over $1000 on Flight UA 1289 from IAH to EWR on 7/7/15. We have lost the Travel Certificate, and I wrote to Veronica for a new one (We have until 10/16/16 to use it). I am writing this as a very stressed customer. I have been trying to get a refund for my flight that never got to it's destination. I have talked with three different customer service people for a refund. They assured me that I would be hearing from United as soon as my request was received and reviewed This has been since July. During this time I received a refund voucher that was sent on August 21, 2019 with an expiration date of August 15, 2019. ? It was for $125. 00 to put on another ticket. This amount is totally not acceptable as I paid $889. 10. For a ticket that never brought me to my destination. Due to fog in Houghton/Hancock we could not land. The pilot tried three times after going to Green Bay, Wisc. On the final try that he said was ok. Fog lifted in Hancock, the pilot announced due to mechanical problems we could not use the plan again and we were left in Green Bay Wi in an airport that was closed, no food courts open so we could eat and we had to sit in a darkened airport waiting for United to open at 6:00 a. M. When I tried to rebook then she said I had to fly back to Chicago as United didn't have flights to anywhere other than Chicago from Green Bay, Wi. By the time I got there I had missed the only flight going to Houghton/Hancock, Mi. Because of the mechanical failure with the plane I could not get there in time for my brother's funeral and burial. Needless to say it activated a lupus flaire up which I am still suffering with the severe pain it causes. Not being there for my brother was more than I could handle. So, I expect your airline to do what should be done and give me my whole ticket amount $886. ten back in compensation for my grief and upset for going on a "trip to nowhere". Thank you.
