Singapore Traffic Police is Associated With and Known as:

Singapore Traffic Police office it situated in Kampong Ubi building since 1999. Formerly it was in Maxwell Road Building, which also served as driving test center, and was a landmark building built by the Colonial government. The Traffic Police Department uniform for officers doing mobile squad duties is a short-sleeved white tunic, a Black leather belt on a dark Blue pair of breeches and riding boots. When they are on the move, they wear a white crash helmet. But when they are on static duty they were a dark blue jockey cap with chequered dark blue and white patterns around its circumference. ROLES and FUNCTIONS 1. The Investigation and Reports Branch: They comprise of 2 units i.e. of The Warrant Unit – which issues warrants of arrest and the Camera Unit - who are responsible for radar speed and signal supervision. This branch basically investigates the road traffic accidents that result into injuries and/or death and other serious violations. They also have a support team that prepares violation reports. 2. The Research and Planning Branch: This Branch provides strategic Directions to formulate critical policies alongwith the Police headquarters, Ministry of Home Affairs and other agencies. 3. The Operations and Training Branch: They plan and execute all the training initiatives and traffic operations. The major part of planning includes traffic management on day-to-day basis and for major events. They ensure smooth Flow of traffic and guarantee that the traffic moves in correct manner. 4. The Corporate Service Branch: This branch looks after staff welfare, managing the manpower, logistics, customer service and administrative support, IT support, Finance and Registry. It is synonymous as the support function of the department. 5. The Testing and Licensing Branch: Here standards for the driving centers and private instructors are set. They conduct theory and practical’s of the driving tests and accordingly issue driving licenses. 6. The Road Safety Branch: They are responsible for educating the masses about road safety by setting off road safety campaigns and ensuring community involvement in road safety. 7. The Patrol Unit: This unit has four Core patrol team and one special Task force team. They ensure day-to-day smooth running of traffic by ensuring that all the traffic rules are followed. Vehicles Since 2004, FRV- Fast Response Vehicle like Toyota Hi Lux sport Utility vehicles are used. They provide high endurance to high usage of roads over a vast period of time. Other vehicles used are scooters and vans. For the Special Operations Command, a Tenix S600 Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) is used. Fast Response Car are rapid deployment vehicles to which Land division officers respond. They use Mitsubishi Lancers, Mazda, Toyota Corollas for patrol duties. Fast Response Car are equipped with various tools for conducting normal policing duties and basic investigative work.
