Hello, I recently reported a fraud involving my bank account (64018881) where I was tricked into transferring money into an account. I believed I was paying for flights to see my daughter in Canada, but it was a scam. I believe this is called an APP scam. I reported the incident to Action Fraud and was given a crime number (NFRC191103320350). I gave this to the bank when I visited the branch in person. I was told they would investigate and try to return the money lost, but that it was not likely I would get it back. I was extremely disappointed to hear this to say the least. My understanding is that NatWast are one of a number of banks that signed up to a scheme this year, that promised to repay their customers loss in such circumstances. I was never warned about the potential of this fraud by my bank and even withdrew the money in person at the branch and nobody warned me then either. I feel that my bank did not take the necessary steps to prevent this incident and so I believe I should be reimbursed by my bank for my loss. Please can someone write back to inform if this will be the case and if not explain why not. I would prefer to be contacted in writing please. Kind regards
