Kmart is the brand name of department store chain, that is run by Sears Holdings Corporation, a US. based corporation having operations across the United States. Sears began operations jointly with Kmart in 2005, and today it has added among the leading department store chains along with Walmart, Target etc. Separately, Kmart was formed in 1962 with the efforts of S.S. Kresge. In the beginning, Kmart used to be known as Kresge Company and name changed into the Kmart with the coming of 1977. The company has strong hold over the United States as over 1200 stores have been running in 49 US. states, and few parts of Guam, Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands of the United States.
