History
The company was started its business operations by Terence Conran in the year 1964 and opened the first store in Chelsea, London. Habitat expanded its business and landed in international market with the establishment of store in Paris in 1973. It listed in London Stock Exchange in 1981. In 1986, the company conjoins with
British Home Stores and formed Storehouse PLC. that was acquired by
Ikano in 1992. The IKANO Company sold the Habitat to Hilco in 2009. Finally, Home Retail Group acquired the stores as well as website of Habitat from Hilco on 24th of June 2011.
