History
The initial name of the company was Cementos Hidalgo. Another company named Cementos Portland Monterrey was founded in 1020 and it was later in the year 1931 that these two companies combined together and thus CEMEX was formed. From 1960 to 1970, the company expanded its business by overtaking many other companies. The company is registered on the Mexican Stock Exchange for public trading, since 1976. It became the world's tenth-largest cement company as of 1989 by overtaking many cement companies of Mexico. The company has also won the Wharton Infosys Business Transformation Award in 2004.
