Carowinds is a theme park, situated near to Interstate 77 on the boundaries of North and South Carolina. It opened its doors for public in the year 1973. Initially, the park was imagined as a part of a resort-type area which consist hotels, a shopping center, football stadium and other entertainment places. From 1993 to 2006, this park was known with Paramount's Carowinds. The park was result of 4 years planning by businessman Earl Patterson Hall.
Carowinds is owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company. This park is spread in an area of around 398 acres. There is 81000 square meter water park named Boomerang Bay in it. Carowinds park has also facility of 65 rides including fourteen roller coasters and eight water rides. It has an open-air entertainment venue, known as Paladium which was the Charlotte's famous amphitheater. Carowinds also hosts live shows like Enternal Jamnation, Blood Drums and Creatures of the Night. The slogan of Carowinds is "Where the Carolinas come together" "Thrill Capital of the Southeast".
