Founded by Bill Comrie, the Brick, began its journey in 1971. Bill Comrie after the death of his father took charge over the family's furniture business. He partnered with two businessmen and changed the name of his firm to Bill Comrie's Alberta Factory Sales. In 1984, the Brick ltd was recognized as one of the top retailers in Canada. The company opened 23 Brick stores in Hinton, Alberta in 1999. Brick acquired United Furniture Warehouse in March 2004. In 2005, the company launched a range of mattress sold under the name of Sleep Better which later was renamed to the Brick Mattress Store.
