Altec Lansion was established in the year 1936 when Western Electric sold its audio division named Electrical Research Products, Incorporation (ERPI) too few ERPI executives namelyLeon Whitney "Mike" Conrow, Alvis A. Ward, George Carrington, Sr. and Bert Sanford, Jr. They named it 'Altec Service Company' in the year 1937. The present name of the company was given when the Altec Company bought the 'Lansing Manufacturing Company' in the year 1941 and its name was changed to Altec Lansing Corporation. From there the company never looked back and scaled heights in the business. The first product developed by the new company was a power amplifier, Model 142B. After that it produced many product which became quite popular in the market after their sales.
