History
Aetna was founded in 1853 by Eliphalet Adams Bulkeley. In 1902, Aetna created an Accident & Liability department to offer collective insurances; whereas in 1912, they had introduced Automobile policies. Many Aetna insured were killed on the
RMS Titanic. Aetna bought a Canadian company, Excelsior Life Insurance Company in 1960 whereas in 1981, they bought 40% interest in two Chilean companies. The Company has invested in many countries like England, Spain, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia & Korea.

In 1998, they bought NYLCare Health Plans, which adds 2.2 million members. After a year in 1999, Aetna purchased
